IMPRO ACT SHOWS

Next show: Sunday May 18, 7:00pm

@ Smith’s Alternative, Alinga St, City

“The Improv Dr’s Games Emporium”

The Improv Dr, David Charles curates on of the largest and tastiest collections of improv performance games in the world, and this show is what happened when he taught as many of them as he could over one weekend to Impro ACT. Should be hilarious!

David cut his theatrical teeth in Kiwiland, prior to becoming a professor  of drama specialising in improvised arts at Louisiana State University and Rollins College, Florida.

A former popular guest artist at Canberra International Improv Festival, David’s been invited back to teach workshops over this weekend on his Games Library, which is a significant online resource for improvisers. Have fun watching the results!

Next show: Wednesday June 25, 7:00pm

@ Smith’s Alternative, Alinga St, City

“One Night Only” – Impro ACT student showcase sessions, featuring three completely different shows including hilarious games session from our newest players, improvising with voice and improvising with body by our more experienced students, plus bonus segments of completely original show formats from The Creators Den.

At 7:00pm, catch “Prepare to Be Unprepared”, commonly our most popular session of the showcase, featuring the excitement and hilarity of classic improvised theatre game play with freshly trained rookie performers taking it to the stage for the first time. Inspiring to watch and jam-packed with entertainment.

At 8:00pm, “Chops” sees intermediate students do absolutely everything you can improvise with voice: music, scenes, poetry, and bizarre stuff 🙂

Finally, at 9:0pm, it’s “Every Body” – spontaneous theatre powered by physicality by and for every body. No shortage of colour and movement here!

All three sessions include a bonus segment from our Creators Den course, where students design entirely new and innovative show structures and reveal them for the very first time during One Night Only!
