“All At Once” – world premiere full-production theatre format, with second original show as ACT I. Three stories in one location in different timeframes, played simultaneously. Chaos? More like your external world and your inner worlds happening All At Once.
The spaces we use in our lives have different occupants over time. Our home might change its occupants. Our workplace might change its business or department or employees. Different relationships take place and affect the overall feeling of the place. Is there a carry-over to the next generation? Are there premonitions of things to come?
In this fully improvised play, see instalments of relationships between different characters in different time periods in one location. Then see what happens when they haunt each other’s space and time. You’ll eventually see several plays and all characters in the same space all at once. Possible? Probably. You’ll have to come and take a look.
At times dramatic and authentically moving, and at times outright outlandishly hilarious, All At Once is improvised theatre as you’ve never seen it before.
This is the world premiere of a new improvised format by Impro ACT and Canberra International Festival of Improvisation Artistic Director, Nick Byrne, before he heads-off on his next overseas tour, where All At Once will next be performed at Vietnam Improv Festival in Hanoi.
This show is a double act, and in Act I, you’ll see another world premiere improvised show format, currently in secret preparation by Impro ACT’s Sharyn Csanki.
See it as many times as you like and get completely different content every time!

“One Night Only” – Impro ACT student showcase sessions, featuring three completely different shows including hilarious games session from our newest players, improvising with props, costumes, masks, and puppets, and surprising play elements by our more experienced students.
At 6:30pm, catch “Prepare to Be Unprepared”, commonly our most popular session of the showcase, featuring the excitement and hilarity of classic improvised theatre game play with freshly trained rookie performers taking it to the stage for the first time. Inspiring to watch and jam-packed with entertainment.
At 7:20pm, “Elements of Play” sees intermediate students build scenes using as many different theatre elements as possible. See things you never saw before as they try stuff they’ve never tried before. Power, passion, and quite a lot of laughs!
Finally, at 8:15pm, it’s “Improv With Stuff” – spontaneous theatre resulting from our seven-week course trying out improv with puppets, costumes, props, masks, and well…stuff. A visual treat, but book quickly for this session, because it’s in the beautiful upstairs performance space, which has a few less seats.
